Also waited 3 hours for the silverlines. No long banded but spotted this rather worn out club in the end.

Good collection. Rewarded for your patience. I wonder what that female Horsfield's Baron is feeding on? Something sweet from the look of the ants nearby.

Thanks all for your kind words. The Banded Royal is really a sight to behold. It is very sensitive to movements and flew up as soon as I lift my camera up to take a shot.
Khew: Unfortunately I do not have a closer shot of the Horsfield Baron. Looks to me like the rotting shell of some fruit....

Similar experience by others , I believe it was Benedict that last saw it at the western edge of CCA ..... except when it is feeding !!
This is a tree top lycaenid, seldom come down eye-level unless it is feeding or ovipositing. The host is one of the parasite plant, Macrosolen Coinchinchinensis .

Ok, let us know when you are up there amongst the bushy tree tops, hanging on a rope and trying to manipulate your DSLR to shoot the butt and trying not to get entangled as you swing to and fro... :bsmile:

Thanks Sunny. There is a small patch of Biden philosa flowers I believe it is trying to feed on before it detected my presence.

Ben,
Located the Banded Royal host plant , it is on top of the tree where you shot it...... the host plants appears to be well eaten , but need fireman's leader to reach it......... unless Nelson pass his Tree Climbing Lesson soon , maybe we need to hire monkey from Kelantan.

Ok got it. So the host plant of the BR is not the tree which I shot in my pic but the parasitic plant Macrosolen Coinchinchinensis which the tree is hosting.
Why Kelantan? I thought we got enough monkeys here already?? :hmmm:
