Hi all,

Can help to confirm if this is Common Caerulean?
The butt was released unharmed after taking pic.

thanks

I think you have something new here, Jamides ferrari.

The all important postdiscal band on the forewing is mostly hidden.
The squiggle of the white striae indicates it is probably crooked.

The upperside apical black is too wide for J. celeno.
The blue if correct is also too deep.

Do you have another shot that shows more of the forewing underside?
If you have the ID can be easily confirmed.

On rechecking, this is correctly J. celeno male.
The celeno subgroup have 2 broad costal (forward margin) spots in space 9 & 10, while the elpis subgroup have one small one in space 9.
This give the costa a different look with more white lines in celeno.

Perspective distortion have caused the wing apex to be rounded and the black border to appear wide.
