After consulting some on-line sources is seems that A. atropos certainly does not occur east of India, and possibly not even there (only to iran and Kazakhstan), narrowing the choice down to styx and lachensis. I am not sure which, but someone (Les?) will pop in and educate us :-)

There is no doubt. It is A lachensis. I found the larva and managed to breed it though to imago. Identical.

Not M. glaucoptera. That species does not have a dark stripe on the body, as far as I can see.

The closest I can find is M. variegatum, but this is only an educated guess as the genus is very difficult to id without examination of the genitalia. Also, yours is newly eclosed and extremely beautiful (must be the new camera of yours....only kidding!), and all photos I can find are rather worn specimens.

I did a check on this earlier. Some features are not quite right.

The FW apical pattern is different; the 2 abdominal black spots are of a different shape; the anal brushes are red instead of black.

It could be just subspecies difference.

Quite what that Sesiid moth is, is very difficult.

Antonio, your Lasiocampidae moth is actually a Notodontid. It has been identified for me as Phalera javana by Dr. Alexander Schintlmeister who says "You photographed Phalera javana, an uncommon Sundanian species, which is new for Thailand (congratulation!). The resting position is perfect photographed! It is sister-species is Ph. albocalceolata, which replaces in Indochina javana. I expect in the South also further Sundanian species. If you will get a female (very rare – I have only one in my collection) you should try to obtain eggs for a breeding experiment. I expect the host plant in leguminosae as their relatives feeding this. The caterpilar must be very beautiful."

I also have some doubts about the Tarsolepis species. I will contact Alexander again, as I had thought it was T. remicauda. T. elephantorum is a N. Thailand species.

The Ischyja species is Ischyja hemiphaea.

The Dysphania sp. is Dysphania transducta.

Alexander has confirmed it as Tarsolepis remicauda, an uncommon but widespread species throughout Thailand.

Hi Antonio. I know I said that I thought I recognised this. I was wrong, it is not what I thought. I think it must be a Zygaenid (I have checked all Arctiinae references and it is not there), and therefore can not be identified by published works (there are none!). The second one is Hypopyra pudens (Catocalinae). A widespread species.

The first one, however, is much more interesting. The genus was obvious immediately, A Nyctomera species (Arctiinae). The common species all have either a) the forewing white band is crossed by black veins or b) large basal white patches on the forewing, or both. Your photo has neither. The only species I am aware of where this is the case is Nyctomera ploessli (Cerny 2009), which, as far as I am aware, is only known from the Type specimen, a female, collected near a waterfall somewhere in the Khao Luang area in 2008, so you are in the area, sort of. I am not sure if the species is as rare as this suggests as misidentification in the wild for one of the more common species is quite possible.

The forewing white band differs, less regular margins and lightly marked veins . Antonio's shot matches the type for N. ploessli perfectly.

The Sumatran shot is typical N. baulus.

The Sphingid is Agrius convolvuli. Often it rests in a way that you can see the pink bands across the abdomen, which makes id much easier.

The first one is still in my unidentified pile!

I have ID'ed two similar or possibly identical ones to your number two as Pingasa ruginaria and Pingasa sp. I do not remember, how I ID'ed them, or if I had help from someone (if so I apologize for not stating it!).

Having been to KPN now and seen the species (in some numbers), I can confidently say that it is N. ploessli. It is much smaller than the other species, and appears common there. I can only assume that misidentification is the cause of its 'apparant' rarity, unless it is extremely local.

Antonio, the Aemene species is A. sordida, the forewing marginal spots are distinctive for the Thai species in this Genus.

I have some doubts about the Cricula species. The discal hindwing spot, though not fully seen, appears too small to be C. jordani, and I think it should be C. trifenestra. The Saturniidae of Thailand website shows a very faded specimen. Whichever, it is definitely a female.

Your last photo is Lebedea nobilis (Lasiocampidae). The only problem is the black costal spot, but that may be just a variation, everything else fits very well.

The 'unidentified moth' is very close to Lemyra ypsilon. Everything fits except the red collar. The abdomen is red, which fits, but the collar does not. If it is not that, then it has to be a Lymantriinae sp, at which point, I will have no idea. VERY intersting moth.

Guldsmed is right.

61 / 3 should be Aroa substrigosa.

None of the Pida species will match. They have distinctive markings. Closest resemblance is Locharna(formerly Pida) strigipennis .

Amata tigrina Walker 1864. Type female from Cambodia.
Syn. Trichaeta tigrina.
Syntomis tigrina.

Amata elwesi Rothschild 1910.Type male from Myanmar.

A very rare species. MoB mentioned four specimens from Borneo(unID'ed) lodged in Leiden museum from Borneo which resembles Amata tigrina/elwesi.
The digital image provided is identical to the above except for the absence of the little mark/line in the submedian interspace ie. FW space 1.

The difference is that the female tigrina from Cambodia has a spot in the submedian interspace (space 1) while the male elwesi from Burma has an incomplete cross line in the same space. This one resembles the male described as A. elwesi.

Antonio, in Post #52, the second one down is a Thyatirinae species (a sub-family of Drepanidae). I can not get any further. There only about 200 species, but nearly all the photos I've found are from Europe or America.

I believed this is a female Lymantria singapura, a species often found in mangrove habitat.
The black markings in Lymantria varies considerably.

In comparing with the female in MoB all the essential markings matched correctly in position. The white HW indicates a female.

This is Gangarides dharma.
It is recognised by the light brown FW; prominent white discal spot; note the dark lines converge (not parallel) towards the inner margin(dorsum).

The Retina species with a red costal band are only found far north eg. Vietnam, China.

In a check on the Chalcosiinae types of pattern only 2 genera have a red costal band.
The other is Rhodopsona which is largely sympatric to the red Retina.
