Klong Nakha Wildlife Sanctuary - Ranong Thailand

Just a short preliminary visit to this famous (Yutaka, Kimura and Pisuth) and very prolific location. I spent 4 hours in the reserve on a hard trail along the Klong. Not well kept disappear in the forest after less than a Km. Actually the whole Sanctuary appears to be a bit neglected and in a general appearance of decadence :-(

Also, was probably not the best season for the butterflies, so I just back home with a pair of shots.

Note to myself:

Next time, find a person expert of the trails, be more careful about the huge number of leeches, don't go alone, bring different boots to wade the stream so many times.

The male pura from India below shows the forewing's clear margin.

Curetis regula.
The black -banded legs indicate either tagalica or regula.
It can be very difficult to separate these two since the HW band's irregularity in tagalica can be slight.
This male have a large shaded spot 1b on the FW suggesting regula since this is not seen in the tagalica male.

Poritia erycinoides.
The two species are very difficult to separate.
The best clue is the 3 HW marginal black spots.
In erycinoides the three spots are either almost equal in size or the largest spot 1b is at most 1 & 1/2 the other two; ground colour whiter.
In Hewitsoni spot 1b is 2x the size of the other two & noticeably taller.
