This image was taken at the butterfly garden at Changi airport.
It seems to have an extra eye spot on the rear wing, which makes me question its ID beyond vindula. Any ideas?

Although it has an extra ocellus it is still a female Vindula dejone.
The appearance can be widely variable due to wsf & dsf.
Essentially this one with wider white shading is dsf though it is rather unusual in Singapore.
The two similar species cannot be separated by the amount of white or blue.
Typical female Singapore Vindula dejone.
Diagnosis : the inner margin of the FW white band is some distance from the FW cellend dark lines.

Female Vindula erota dsf & wsf.
Diagnosis: the inner margin of the FW white band is very close to the FW cellend dark lines.

Many thanks for that explanation. I pulled down all the images and loaded them up side by side. Your diagnosis explanation then became very clear and obvious. Thanks for taking the time and helping me.
