These two species are sometimes confused.

1. Female Potanthus pseudomaesa. (ID probably incorrect)
HW veins lightly darkened; FW spots 4 & 5 detached above (from spot 6) but overlaps spot 3 below.
Spots margins not or barely concave.

2. Female Potanthus trachala tytleri.
Larger species ;HW veins usually not darkened; FW spots narrow, margins strongly concave ; spots 4 & 5 usually widely detached from the spots above & below.
spot 1b very narrow.

Generally it the FW cell 'black hole is largw or more rounded it is a female.
The male generally have the hole small or flattened.

1. Probably Female Potanthus confucius.

In P. confucius the veins are not black dusted although they may be lightly brown
This gives the band a continous look especially in the male.

The FW band has a continuous uninterrupted look especially in the male.

Females.
In the female the top end may be detached between spot 5 & 6.

The pix 1 image is not P. pseudomaesa because the overlap between spot 3 & 4 is too large.
The band also has a continuous lppk because the veins are not blackened.

P. pseudomaesa; FW spot 4 & 5 detached from spot 6 & only a slight overlap with spot 3.
Veins noticeably darker ;FW spots outer margins slightly more concave.
Male.
