I would be interested in opinions of this Pieris sp. from Doi Suthep, as I am having difficulty in assigning it to a particular species. Photographed in forest edge, well away from cabbage fields where one might expect P. rapae. Position of dark spots on under forewing rules out A. canida I think.
Maybe without an upperside it cannot be safely identified?
Does not match any of my own images of this group very well.
Many thanks

Female Pieris rapae crucivora.
At first sight it looks to be P. canidia.
The heavier dark shadings indicate a female.
Two things help in the ID.
1. The HW margin of P. canidia have a series of black spots, much heavier in the female (which would be visible below in a see-thru effect).
2. The female raape have the FW apex blackened in a larger squarish patch whereas this is triangular in P. canidia.
P. canidia canidia.
