Images of at least two individuals, taken at Chiang Dao, at an elevation of about 1,000 metres a month ago. Never seen this before and couldn't refind it on a subsequent trip to the same area. I am pretty sure this matches M. nicota, presumably with reduced ocelli for dry season. I base this on the large size of the butterfly, the wide straight band and the smooth arc of the ocelli in both wings.

For comparison the last photo shows this species together with Mycalesis malsara which shows the large size.
Many thanks

They should be M. nicotia.
Dsf are very difficult.
In M. nicotia the white discal band is curve in at lower end.
In M. malsara , the band is straight tapering at both ends.

Many thanks for the confirmation.
when seen together the size difference also helps, as M. nicota is notably larger. A useful feature.
