Female Tanaecia iapis iapis. Java.

The Javanese subspecies is so different that many scientists elevate it to a separate species.

Java being the type location of iapis have priority to the name iapis, while the rest of the subspecies in SE Asia including Malaysia & Singapore are referred to the taxoncocytina.
Not withstanding the group to which iapis belong are often placed in a new genus Cynitia .( true Tanaecia include the pelea group.)

Thus Tanaecia ( or Cynitia) iapis iapis, Java.
And Tanaecia ( or Cynitia) cocytina puseda , Mainland SE Asia & Singapore.
