I find great difficulty to separate females of these two species. Is there any reliable feature?
Two images of the same individual from Chiang Mai.
R. dieneces or R. suffuse?
With thanks

Female Rapala dieneces.

These two species are very confusing even in the south where intermediate forms are seen .(Probably of hybrid origins).

R. dieneces :Generally brownish ;FW band mostly straight; orange crown more prominent.

R. dieneces in the north ,Thaialnd ,India.
Males.

R. suffusa;Generally yellower to chrome yellow ; males sometimes pale ochreous; females always yellow ;FW band curved/bent towards costa, strongly in the male.
Orange crown pale usually not noticeable, its colour merging with the ground colour.
