Two different individuals, both photographed in the same locality at the same time (so I assume the same species, though they look slightly different). From Doi Pha Hom Pok, n Thailand at 1,520 metres. The upperwing was neither blue nor scarlet/red, so simply looked "dull brown" in flight.
The initial thought in the field was Rapala pheretima, but I find the large orange crown not a good feature for this species. My thoughts now are for Rapala dieneces (image 2) and/or Rapala nissa (image 1) based on the brown discal lines with white edges and notable orange crowns on the tornal spot.
Would this be correct? Comments welcome.

This has been shot in the past & thought to be R. rectivitta or nissa.

But these two have very straight FW bands & can be ruled out.

The band is very narrow with irregular margins & the orange is more encircling.
It looks to be Rapala rosacea.

A 2nd similar sp is R. micans. China including Yunnan & Taiwan ,& so likely to occur in N. Thailand.

Many thanks for the interesting insights.
For further interest and comparison, this butterfly (two shots) I also photographed nearby (maybe a few km away at the same altitude), the day earlier, and I put it down as R. nissa.

As can be seen the bands are indeed much straighter as should I hope make this one R. nissa.

Post 3.
Yes this R. nissa.
As Yutaka put at the bottom of the website, the male rectivitta has a strong blue sheen in a side light.
