Two shots of same individual from Doi Inthanon, n Thailand at 1,100 metres.
There are three Ochlodes species known from Thailand - brahma, siva and bouddha.
From the size and coulouration of the underwing discal spots siva can be ruled out.
From specimen images on Yutaka's website the other two are hard to tell apart, although bouddha looks darker on the upperside of the forewing. However, the field images of bouddha on the same page make the colouration much more orange than the specimens, and look a lot like these images.
I cannot see any obvious difference between brahma and bouddha from images.
My gut feeling is that this one is brahma, though it looks darker and more orange than other brahma I have.
Comments on the separation of these two greatly appreciated please.
