I hope everyone in this forum are healthy and safe as always
I have the following species for identification
All are from Meghalaya...
1. Flos areste??

2. Atrophaneura aidoneus or varuna??

1. Yes , Flos areste is right.
This & A. adriana are very similar .The area where the tail is ,is torn off.
Flos areste :Tailless;FW postdiscal band outer margin stepped (90 degree).
HW apical area dark-shaded to the margin in space 5, 6, & a bit of 7.

A. adriana:Tailed. FW postdiscal band with a sharp notched (80 degree) at vein 5.
HW apical area not noticeably darkened.
Dark shading largely in space 5 & not reaching the apical margin.

2. Atrophaneura varuna. UnF cell area darker than the rest.

Atrophaneura aidoneus. UnF of uniform pale bluish grey.

3. Probably Arhopala bazalus, very worn.
The FW band appear very broad but that is due to some mark outside the band.
FW band is dislocated at vein 4.
FW cellspots with some metallic highlight.
HW spot 6 strongly notched on the outside . spot 5 also appeared to be notched.

Atrophaneura varuna asterion.
Male :UpF blue black with the basal zone darker ; UpH centrally darker.
HW scent fold strongly triangular.

Female ;Upperside uniformly bluish grey brown without a whitish patch on FW lower margin.

The shape of the HW scentfold identified this below as an A. aidoneus male.

It is indeed very helpful...i realise there has been a lot of confusion over the identification of these two species...
After your guidance, now i am sure that i can identify them very easily without any confusion...
