View Full Version : Confirmation on ID - Potanthus pava

Photographed at Nam Nao, central Thailand, I originally had this down as Potanthus rectifasciata, but looking at the spots in the upper hindwing (separated spots in space 6 and 7) there does seem to be a possibility that this is P. pava.
Would P. pava be correct?

Potanthus pseudomaesa.

The UpF band's spots 4 & 5 are almost detached, spots 2 & 3 with slightly concave margind.
HW band upper part projected out with a spot 6.
Sri lanka male.

P. pava have broadly overlapping FW band & a mostly yellow abdominal end.

P. rctifasciatus have the FW band nearly in a straight line in the male (not in the female)
HW with an elongate broad-based spot 6.
Underside spot 6 very large.

Many thanks for this.
There are no recent records of Potanthus pseudomaesa for Thailand, nor any photos, just some old literature records for the north and northeast. An interesting record.
