Hi Dr Seow,

Which Jamides sp. is this? Shot in Singapore.

Female Jamides alecto.


Four members of the elpis subgroup were recorded in Singapore.

1. Jamides elpis ; FW pos6tdiscal band upper end dislocated at vein 6.
HW 2nd white stria( from base) in space 7 midway between the 2nd & 3rd white striae in the cell.
White striae on the inner half thin.
Male upperside all blue.

2.Jamides alecto FW postdiscal band with upper dislocation at vein 6.
HW 2nd white stria in space 7 about midway between 2nd & 3rd striae in the cell.
White striae on the FW inner half rather thick.
Male UpF with a black border, & HW with marginal black spots.

3. Jamides caeruleus. FW postdiscal band with upper dislocation at vein 6.
HW 2nd stria in space 7 near to the 3rd stria in the HW cell.
Underside duskier especially in the male with the thin striae sullied.
Upperside male a deeper blue.

4. Jamides abdul. Probably extinct in Singapore.
FW postdiscal band not dislocated at the upper end at vein 6.
Upperside male green, female bluish.
