Arhopala major.

A. major is much the commonest Oakblue in Singapore.

This & A. amphimuta are often confused.
Both are tailless withthe FW postdiscal series of round spots in an arc & unbroken.
The HW series are also placed far from the HW cellend.

Arhopala amphimuta.
TheMale upperside blue with border a thread.
HW postdiscal spots 2, 3, 4, & 5 in line & largely unbroken.
The postdiscal spot in space 1b forms a near perfect 'V'.

Arhopala major.
Male upperside blue with broad brown border.
HW with postdiscal spots 2, 3, 4, & 5 always broken at vein 4, ie in the middle.
The V spot in space 1b is unequal with a longer lower arm, ie an 'L' or a 'J' or much distorted.

The underside differences are not absolute & also hybrids may occur.
