Federick, I think we stumbled on Species #269 for Singapore without knowing it this morning at TBHP! :mad2: That "Common Tit" that we spotted isn't a Common Tit at all! And neither was it a Tajuria.

I'll post a shot of it later when I've processed it. I hope you managed to snap a shot of it. Not often that you can get a +1 of a re-discovery. :jumjoy:

It's a species that has not been seen in a long time. ;P

I didn't get a good shot of it at all, too far for my 105mm. Anywhere will post both shots for comparison.

saw any strange 'butts' there today?

Ok. You got some decent shots there... does anyone want to take a shot at guessing what this species is? Clue in C&P4 : "The species are easily recognised by their silver undersides"...

Have a quick check on C&P4, is it Ancema blanka blanka (Plate 48 #23) ?

Bingo! :redbounce Well done! :bsmile: Getting good at ID these days.

Here're my shots. I took quite a few and thanks to the D2X's :shoot1: mode, one of the shots showed its uppersides. Not clear, but good enough for comparison with C&P4's specimens. So we have Species #269 now. :jumjoy: :jumjoy: :jumjoy:

Wow ! Congrates

I was telling Khew at AH today that I saw a female Common Tit at TBHP earlier in the day with the grey underwing he mentioned last nite.

I saw it and missed a shot on it at the left side of the second level terrace! Is it where you all shot it?

Yes, it was shot there, on one of the flowering trees.

#269 sighted again today, there were at least 2 of them , looks like fresh copies, missed a shot by milli-seconds. :mad2: :mad2:

They moved that fast huh? Time for you to get a fast-focusing DSLR... ;-)

Most of the time 2-3 of them were high up on the tree, frustrated Richard to no ends..... :bsmile:

I was given an eye level shot ...got it focused ....but he was quick .......well another time. :-)

Ah... must get Richard to do an 'open sesame' spell on them to open their wings.

Yup...always another time to nail 'em. That's why we're out on most weekends when the sun shines! :jumjoy:

SBC? :hmmm:

Actually, I've sent the shots to my guru in FRIM, just so some so-called "Jedi Master" doesn't come in and jump on me ;P . Dr Kirton hasn't had the time to reply yet, probably. But I guess it's quite safe to add it in for your article.

looks like #269 is not limited to TBHP.....

I saw a copy at KRT too last week...

This guys is real fast ........he zipped around with afterburner on, most of the time .

Missed it by millisecond again!

Not surprising. It's a mistletoe feeder (its cats, I mean). So it remains close to where its host plants are found and hangs around the area. The forests of TBHP, KRP and probably Mt Faber are likely spots for it to hang out.

Time to use a DSLR's faster focusing speed to nail the bugger.

Hopefully this bugger will find his way to AH....'cause that place has lotsa parasitic mistletoe...
