These are on one of my newly planted trees. Unfortunately I do not know the name of the plant so I can not check the hostplant database. Any help on Idying either the cat or the plant would be most gratefully recd. I have a feeling the cat will be prettier than the adult!

Lymantriidae
Orgyia sp.
Quite probably O. postica, which is a highly polyphagous species.

Thanks very much Roger. When I don't post my guess, I am right. I thought it looked related to the British Vapourer (Orgyia antiqua), but I didn't want to embarrass myself again by getting it wrong!
I was also right about the adult, see below!
