Sharing some shots taken at Gua Tempurung. The weather was cloudy and rainy on most of the days when I was there.

The Pansy shots were taken at Murni campsite beside the Kampar River

The following shots were taken near a waterfall. Spotted a few Common Birdwing and Rajar Brooke Birdwing but had no chance to shoot them. I was told that a RBB was sold at $RM 9.

3. Doleschallia bisaltide abisaltide (Autumn Leaf)

4. Appias lyncida vasava (Chocolate Albatross) – many male Chocolate Albatross were busy puddling. Spotted only one female.

The two Malaysian species are nice!

Like the Blue Pansy shots!

How was your holiday there?

It was not a holiday for me.
It was work for me. There were about 140 students attended a leadership triaining camp there. Some of us got to accompany them and keep an eye on them.

Wah... whilst supervising the kids, you still had the opportunity to nail so many species.

I wonder if that Autumn Leaf is the subspecies pratipa instead. Can't really tell from the underside reliably, but in some specimens of ?bisaltide the apical white spots can be seen on the underside forewing.

This underside is very familiar to me, where we have ssp. pratipa. However, the undersides of this species are so variable that I would not want to say for sure that that is what you have here.

Thanks guys.

There were many butts puddling and fluttering around so it was quite easy for me to nail some shots. In fact, missed quite a few other species as I didn't bother to chase them.
Anyway, the kids were well taken care of by the local trainers. Most of the shots were taken during the lunch break.

I am just curious if you have any photos of the location?

There are many entrances and different parts of this Gua Tempurung.

Think I will have to go and shoot there when I go back there next time.

CM, sorry I didn't have any pictures of the place where I shot the butts.

Here are the places where I spotted many butts.

1. At the main entrance to the cave (it is a tourist spot). The surrounding area are huge.
2. At the absailing site and the water rafting site.
I found this video posted at Youtube (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3820664135180537404). You see a group of people walking down from the track where the black car is. I think these people walked from the waterfall absailing site which is about 800 m -1 km away. Look for a black arrow sign in the video. The arrow is marked on a wooden signboard which indicates the direction (across the brdige, 4 km away) where Rajah Brooke can be found.
The bridge is where the water rafting will start and there is a water rafting resort just opposite the car. I think this resort is the landmark in this area where you can start your butts hunting adventure.

Hope one day I have a chance to explore the place again.
