I visited the Butterfly Garden at T3 during my recent overseas trip. The setting is quite pleasant. Unfortunately, I had just half an hour to spend and with a non-macro lens :-( .

Loke, Nice series without a macro lens.

I was there on Monday morning and shot a few as well. But it was quite early in the morning so most of the butts were still hanging upside down and :lazy2: ...:lazy2:

Going where there is butterflies and leaving the 180mm at home..... it is as good as not buying it !;P

Ha ha ha, a teaser indeed! But for the record, it is not easy to shoot well in the BG due to the timing of the flight (too early, too late), time that one can spend, constant moving of visitors, etc. CK may probably concur to this.
I do enjoy my visit to the BG though.

Yes, the place is usually crowded with many passengers trying to get a good shot of the butts. There are also children running around. On that day, I had to stop a boy from trying to catch a clipper while it was on one of the flowers. But I do agreed with Loke, the place is quite nice.

yeah, i was there once last december. before 8! this time it will be before 8 too. and to make matters worse, i return at 7am. :P


brought a 100mm to bali and visited the butterfly park there. will post later.

BTW, how long did the birdwing survive in hort park and oh's? the ones are bali survives 2 weeks and they make once they eclose...for 8 hrs.

I do not release teh birdwings into the enclosure at hortpark... i just breed them and release them back into the park.

bali enclosure is a box like netting, but it is huge, with a little river running thru and a waterfall. netting is around 4m? tall.

plants, mostly pagoda flower and ixora.

maybe the extra height and size, as well as abundance of the birdwing's fav food allows it to survive so long.
