Telinga malsara partial dsf.

Telinga malsara dsf
Telinga species.
1. T mestra .Prominent white marginal bands.
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/telinga-mestra
2. Telinga malsara.
Discal white band broad, taper at FW costa.
Wsf HW ocelli inner margins sharply angled at vein 4.
Dsf with orage brown patches inner to white band.

https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...ndhi_ak559.jpg
3. Telinga nicotia.
Discal band broad ,not quite taper at FW costa.
Wsf HW ocelli in an arc.
Dsf with little orange shadings.

4. Telinga misenus.
Discal band narrow, somewhat undulate, & slightly curved in at FW apex.

Jamides bochus bochus.
The sharp spike formed by the white striae near the HW inner margin IDed it as a Jamides.
The FW postdiscal band is more or less dislocated at every vein, & the HW lunulate (crescent moon) submarginal spots are characteristic.

4. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...7&d=1743928784
Prosotas bhutea,
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...25cce173-1.jpg
The FW is raised high enough that it shows no band extending below the midcell bar.
This is sufficient to distinguish P. bhutea from P. pia which has a small band there.
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...168_255821.jpg
5. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...8&d=1743928835
Male Nacaduba kurava.
FW submarginal spots large with rounded margins.
FW postdiscal band almost always straight & unbroken.
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...8b2c4fe1-1.jpg
Similar, N. beroe.
FW postdiscal band typically broken.
Fw submarginal spots irregular.
Costal spot above the midcell band absent.

Possibly Halpe handa.
The subspecies formerly under H. homolea are now upgraded to full species.
All have the cilia chequered esp. FW.
Most have an upper cellspot.
Halpe handa.
FW cilia chequered.
FW without cellspots.
FW spot 2 & 3 widely separated.
Underside markings diffuse & ill-defined.
H. handa is surprisingly called the Indian Ace in Thailand.

The other species in the group which have no ce3llspot (usually)is H. filda the Absebt Ace.
This have spots 2 & 3 overlapping & underside marking better defined.
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/halpe-filda
H. flava also looks similar but UnH interneural spots in space 4 & 5 are very small.
Also FW spots 2 & 3 are widely overlapping.

Charaxes bernardus.
8. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...2&d=1743929171
Probably Charaxes psaphon.
The four orange species can be extremely confusing.
Charaxes bernardus.
FW apical spots mostly conjoined.
FW distal half barely dark-shade except in banded form.
HW dark discal band shallowly undulate.
HW tornal twin spots free.

https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...0adb5fd3-1.jpg
Charaxes psaphon.
FW apicalspots weakly separated.
FW distal half often dark-shade.
HW postdiscal dark fascia more undulate.
Hw tornal twin spots mostly within a ring, formed partly by the last lunulate postdiscal mark.

Charaxes aristogiton.
FW apical spots may be separated.
FW distal area barely dark.
HW postdiscal dark fascia narrow, mostly straight curving out at upper 1/4.
HW tornal spots free.

Neptis cartica.
N. clinia & cartica are practically identical in markings.
However, N. clinia is browner On the hW there is a small triangular patch of white at the base of space3. This is almost always present and diagnostic.
It can be seen in this enlarge image clearly.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...+clinia+BV.jpg
In N. cartica the HW discal band is set higher & further apart from the submarginal spots
The band does cut across the base of space 3 & so does not create a small patch of white.

female Papilio alcmenor.

P. bootes & P. janaka may look somewhat similar but they both have red bodies.

Jamides alecto male.
(Note .Possibility of two individuals here, ie image 1 being J. elpis.)
The Jamides in inndia have rhinner white striae.
If in SE asia & seeing the underside alone, I would have thought it is J.elpis but the upperside with the Fw black border & the HW marginal spots are clearly that of J. alecto.
J. elpis Upperside with clean margins (male).
Undersside white striae uniformly thin.

J. alecto
Upperside with FW black border HW marginal spots (male).
Underside white striae thicker on Fw & outer half of HW.

J. bochus underside submarginal spots lunulate.

Catochrysops strabo.
The two darken spots in HW space 7 is characteristic.
Sot 9 can sometimes be missing.
Here it is very small, faint ,between the postdiscal spot 6 & the cellend bar.

15. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...0&d=1743930091
Acytoleois puspa.
Two features together ID Acytolepis.
1, FW with a spot 9 on the costa, just after spot 6.
2. HW with a spot at the base of space 7. (often like a tadpole with a tail.
Two species.
A. puspa FW postdiscal spot 4 & 5 at an angle with each other, sometimes almost at right angle.
https://wingscales.com/Lycaenidae/Ac...is-puspa-gisca
A. lilacea. FW postdiscal spots 4 & 5 more aligned or nearly parallel.
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...0b67f1df-1.jpg
https://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/si...1e508689-1.jpg
Oreolyce is the only other genus in which the HW have a black spot at the base of space 7, but the FW lacks spot 9.
Several spp. in India.

HW spot 7 larger & darker than the rest of the postdiscal spots below it.
As dark as the sub-basal spots.
Ground colour dark & spots ringed with a white halo.
HW submarginal spots sharply serrate.

Udara dilecta.
Udara is marked as in Celastrina but the spotsdo not have white halos.
U. dilecta.
Submarginal spots present.
All spots small.
HW postdiscal spot 7 no darker than the rest below it.
Ground colour white.
https://wingscales.com/Lycaenidae/Udara-dilecta-dilecta
Similar.
U. placidula.
HW spot 7 larger & cdarker than the rest of the postdiscal spots below it.
Ground colour darker grey.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...0/DSC_1494.JPG
18. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...3&d=1743930315
Celastrina species probably C. argiolus.
Underisde light greyish with the spots in halos.
Spots small .
HW spot 7 not darker than the rest.
Several similar species & hard to ID.
