Idea lynceus & stolli, the ID conundrum.

Idea lynceus & stolli are two very similar Sundanian species that were originally considered as one.
In addition I. stolli was also confused with I. iasonia of India, which is very similar.
As these two are frequently confused in fieldshot identifications, an attempt is made to elucidate the differences between the two.



Perspective distortion & lighting cause considerable problem in determining the species.

Idea lynceus.
HW margin rounded.
Generally with large spots and a darker smokey ground colour.

HW produced between vein 4 & 6, but variable. Often with smaller spots & lighter ground.
