The two species Vindula erota and dejone are often much confused.

FW postdiscal spots mostly striaght & equal distant from the cellend band in space 4 & 5.
HW tail long in the male.
Female white band not extending into the postdiscal lunulate spots.

Vindula erota.
FW postdiscal spots mostly lunulate and nearer the cellend band in space 5 than in space4.
HW tail short & triangular in the male of subspecies chersonesia.
In the male of ssp erota tail as long as in male V. dejone.
Female white band broad, extending into the post discal lunules.

Vindula dejone is the overwhelmingly commoner species.
V. erota is mostly montane in P. Malaysia.
In Kedawi ssp erota is found in the lowland.
There is surprisingly no observation of v. erota from Malaya proper.
